This is a shorter solo episode where I talk about alcohol. Not in the sense "do not drink" without any explanation but rather a completely different way: how can your alcohol use actually help you in your pain treatment?
Sounds strange? Well then - come on in and listen and see what I mean by that.

If you think 35 minutes are too many for the original episode, if you want a quick overview or want to hear my take home messages on my talk with Elin Rombo - this is it.
Join me - I am sure you will not be disappointed!

Today I am talking to Elin Rombo, a world famous Swedish opera singer! In 2009 she received the prestigious Birgit Nilsson scholarship. In 2013 she was named Court singer and in 2016 she was awarded the medal Litteris et Artibus by the Swedish King.
But she has another very important story to tell. Only 15 years of age, she started a long journey with multiple surgeries for a tumour. When she was cured but still got pain, no one told her about persistent pain. It has affected her, but she told noone about it.
Now, 30 years later she learned about persistent pain by coincidence....and finally got better!
Join me and listen to this episode; I am sure you will enjoy it!

25 years ago, he was lying in bed or on the floor, not doing too much else. He thought his life had come to an end. Then he decided that the man in the mirror was going to fix this.
Now, he works with paintoolkit.org. Has not seen a doctor or pain medication since. He has become an honourary member of the British Pain Society. He still has pain.....but it does not stop him from anything.
How is this possible? Join me in this episode to find out who Pete is, and what he did - and still does!

For anyone who wants a super short conlusion, an update on your last episode or just you being more curious than most people - here is the insight of the talk I had with professor Hedvig Söderlund.
August 22, 2021
Talking to professor Hedvig Söderlund gives a quick insight into being burned out, but also touches the questions like if we only use 10% of our brain, and how the brain inside professional violinists can change!
Hedvig Söderlund is a professor in psychology and has been active at Uppsala University where she was in charge of Uppsala Memory Lab until the fall 2019. She has spent almost 20 years in human memory research and its organisation in the brain. She has investigated memory, alcohol, depression and also aging and sex differences. Her main interest is the hippocampus!
Now she has started her own company Brain of Sweden and has recently published a book in Swedish - Den utbrända hjärnforskaren.
